Why Don't I Have Everything I Want?!

If you're like me you often times ask yourself "WHY DON'T I HAVE EVERYTHING I WANT?" and by everything I want, I mean:

  • A ridiculous amount of money
  • Not having to work
  • A passport full with traveling adventures
  • A nice house with a walk in closet, gourmet kitchen, and infinity pool.....
You get the picture.

When I get that deep in thought I really put myself into the process of having everything my heart desired. Then, I begin to get somewhat depressed. Not because I don't have all of those things, but because I realize that I would go crazy and end up being extremely unhappy if I had all of them.

Why You Ask? "How could you think that?" "Money would make me soooo happy!"

Well yea, the initial emotion I would have would be happiness. Extreme happiness!

I would travel the world! Try new things. Buy a few homes. Make sure my family was taken care of. Buy my dream closet, with all the clothes, shoes, and accessories I have dreamed about. Drive a baller car. I wouldn't have to work anymore. I wouldn't have to stress.

But when all is said and done, and you have visited every last place on earth. Purchased every last material thing you could possibly want. Then what?

Wouldn't life become boring? Wouldn't you run out of things to do?

You could potentially turn to drugs and alcohol making you happy.
You become unmotivated. Depressed.
Miserable to be around because you literally have nothing to complain about, so you start complaining about the colors of Starbucks cups during the holiday season...

See where I am getting at?

You don't need to be a millionaire to be happy. In fact according to FORBES the "Happiness Salary" is $75,000 a year! YES, that is still an extremely difficult salary to acquire. But it proves my point.

I'm not saying you're not allowed to want things. Hell, I still want those things on my list. But you don't NEED to have them to be happy.

Be thankful for what you have!!

Be thankful for:

  • Your relationships (significant other, family, friends, God)
  • Waking up in the country where you are free to do as you please (for the most part)
  • A VAST selection of food & restaurants to choose from on the daily basis
  • Your health
  • Your job (unless they're treating you like crap, in that case, leave that job)
  • Another day to start new
I hope this helps you if you're feeling low. There is so much to be happy about!

-Judge Not-

-Before you judge yourself.-

Those were the words of Bob Marley. They are oh so true. I have found it extremely easy to judge people by their exterior, and/or actions and I am sure you have too. While it is still really difficult to take a step aside and think to yourself what the right thing to do is, (which is NOT to judge those around you) I feel like we really should try to do the right thing and look at ourselves before we go making accusations and assumptions about others. Especially, if we never met them before. We don't know what these people have been through. I know it is hard to keep a positive outlook on things when the world is crashing down and others seem to be so cold and heartless towards you. But you just need to continue to PAY IT FORWARD. Kill the mean people with kindness!! It is honestly contagious and you will find that maybe, HOPEFULLY one day they will see all this sunshine you are trying to bring into their lives, despite all the rain clouds and storms they have there already. Maybe, YOU can change their lives!! Think about it! What goes around comes around, and if you continue to treat others they way you wish to be treated, it will come right back to you!

It is also very important to take a look at yourself. WE are not PERFECT beings, we make mistakes everyday! Just remember, that others do have it worse off than you when you are down. It is important to keep your head up and smile through the stormy weather, because despite what it looks like today, Sunshine will always head your way the next day!

(UNLESS YOU'RE IN ALASKA IN THE WINTERTIME... LOL JK)

"Judge not, before you judge yourself
Judge not, If your not ready for judgement
I know that I'm not perfect, and that I don't aim to be
But before you point your fingers, make sure your hands are clean!"

Be happy, Be THANKFUL, Be kindhearted
It will all come back to you in the end somehow, someway!

KEEP YOUR EYES, MINDS, & HEARTS OPEN!

Smile

Smile, though your heart is aching,
Smile, even though it's breaking.
When there are clouds in the sky-
You'll get by.
If you smile through your pain and sorrow,
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through
For you.
Light up your face with gladness,
Hide every trace of sadness.
Although a tear may be ever so near,
That's the time you must keep on trying,
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile,
If you just smile.
Those lyrics are those written by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons, to the music written by Charlie Chaplin. How Ironic that the lyrics were written to a song by the man who made millions of people laugh.... and the lyrics couldn't be more accurate. Why go through life being sad or angry, there's more to life if you smile through the hard times!

This song brings happy tears to my eyes when I listen to it sometimes, Yah yah yah I know, Im a big sap!

But it makes me happy knowing that its okay to smile and I know that happiness is contagious!!

Make someone smile today, it could make a huge difference!
