Childhood Dreams..

Can you name me the top movies of your childhood? It doesn't have to be just Disney. I want to know about the movies you would watch as a kid that would make your imagination run wild!

One of the top movies that still sends me back is the movie HOOK by Steven Spielberg. That movie would make my eyes glisten with wonder. I still to this day wish that Neverland was real! (Not Michael Jacksons Neverland) I mean the Neverland in the stars! The one that when you got there looked like an island of dreams and imagination!

A place where you never had to grow up! Full of fairies, mermaids, and other mystical creatures!

Hook is still one of my favorite movies of all time! I could watch it all the time, I know all the lines, the score makes me feel like a kid again!!

I remember watching that movie and LOVED the nursery @ Granny Wendy's house in London, sitting next to the big window overlooking Big Ben. I always wanted a room just like that! It is still to this day a DREAM ROOM.

I think what this movie Hook teaches us is, that YES we all GROW UP. But it is important to never forget what it was like to be a child. To be so innocent and so free. Never forget your imagination and even though you may be older on the exterior you can ALWAYS and FOREVER still be Young At Heart.

BANGARANG!!!

This is the Peter Pan statue at Kensington Gardens in London!
I would love to visit this monument one day..

Irish Oatmeal!

Yum! Nothing makes me feel more cozy than a bowl of Irish Oatmeal.. not only for breakfast but for any time of day!!

Irish oatmeal is a bit different from the normal Quaker Oats or Instant Oatmeal. Irish Oatmeal is made from Steel-Cut Oats rather than Rolled Oats. Irish Oatmeal has a chewier consistency and a nuttier flavor than the others. Its almost tapioca like to me..

Irish oatmeal is less processed than rolled oats or instant oatmeal, which makes it higher in Fiber, Vitamin B, Calcium, and Protein. It can also help lower your cholesterol.

I love sprinkling a little brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, and raisins over them! It is so delicious, comforting, and good for you! MMmmMmM

What will be, will be

Both my grandmothers and mom have sang this song to me ever since I was a little girl. This song has never had more meaning to me than it does now. It is so simple yet so true! It makes me tear up! It is so beautifully written and has passed on through generations and generations, and it will continue to do so when I have a family of my own.

When I was just a little girl

I asked my mother, what will I be
Will I be pretty, will I be rich
Here's what she said to me.

Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.

When I grew up, & fell in love
I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead
Will we have rainbows, day after day
Here's what my sweetheart said.

Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.

Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother, what will I be
Will I be handsome, will I be rich
I tell them tenderly.

Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.

Black Friday Shopping?!? NO THANKS!

Now as a girl that writes about fashion and cosmetics and a bunch of other girly things, the one thing you should know about me is I HATE THE ACT OF SHOPPING! Nothing stresses me out more than running around not knowing what your looking for. When I "Shop" I have a few things on my mind that I want to get. If I don't find them within the first 5 minutes of entering a store, I leave. It is very strange. Shopping makes me nauseous, gives me a migraine, and gives me anxiety! Of course there are a few occasions where I feel like shopping for its own sake, but it's not often. Most of the shopping I do is online. Its easy and fun! You can search for almost anything and its QUICK!

So my take on Black Friday Shopping? NO THANK YOU!
Yes there are great deals out there, but in my opinion it is not worth getting trampled over, getting yelled at by people, or waiting in dreadfully long lines. Not to mention I could never find anything in my size because it is all sold out!!! I did my black friday shopping online around midnight last night. It was an early christmas present for me. LOL

My very first L.A.M.B. Purse!!!

I already have the wallet in this pattern from last years christmas, but I thought that I would treat myself this year. I got this purse valued at : $300 for $177 & Free shipping!! Click on the link below to find out where!!
vvvv
^^^^

They are hosting great deals on brand name items! Just like L.A.M.B.!
I think I will be doing some of my early christmas shopping here.. but we'll see!

I started my christmas shopping early so that way I don't have to stress about it too much. I already bought my boyfriends gift online too. But I wont say what it is because he reads my blog. LOL

Now I hope you don't think that I am less of a woman because I don't like shopping very much, but lets face it, most of the time I am broke anyway and going shopping when your broke just makes you feel horrible about yourself! You want to buy all these things and you simply just can't! By the time you do get a little spending cash, the stuff you saw while you were "Window Shopping" is sold out! LOL Thats usually my luck at least.

For those of you who braved the morning by going Black Friday Shopping, I salute you! You are much braver and stronger than I am!

Lots of Love and Black Friday Deals,
Megs

Flicks & Cartoons from the 1930s

I remember growing up and watching old time cartoons and movies. More like slapstick Vaudeville movies  from Laurel and Hardy along with The Three Stooges and some Chaplin stuff too (although chaplin was just a bit earlier than L & H) I remember how hard I would laugh at those. My dad helped me grow up to the best of entertainment. Old Hollywood is barely remembered through the young minds of America. I remember walking down Hollywood Blvd with my little 16 year old sister a few months ago, looking at all the celebrity stars. From Clark Gable to the Andrews Sisters and more, she got all frustrated and started huffing to herself. I asked her what was wrong, and she said "I don't know who these people are! Wheres the star for Kanye West?"  I just shook my head in sadness only because she didn't grow up the same way I did. We had two different dads, and she wasn't introduced to the classics. I want to keep them all alive because I know one day no one will know who the names on those stars really are.

I remember one night when I was about maybe 5 years old. I was with my dad for the weekend. It was my bedtime. So I went to fall asleep in his bed, but I couldn't fall asleep for the life of me! My dad always kept the door cracked about half a foot or so. That night was lucky because I could see the big screen TV from the angle of the bed and the door crack. He was watching Laurel And Hardy, The Big Noise. The train scene came on and I started watching it secretly, for my dad thought I was asleep. It gradually became funnier and funnier I just couldn't contain my little laughter anymore! I started laughing hysterically so loud that my dad came in the room and started laughing too! He said my little laughter sounded so cute from the other room, that he couldn't be mad that I wasn't asleep! So he picked me up and sat me on the couch and we watched Laurel and Hardy movies laughing together until I fell asleep. It is memories like those that I love the most.

Clever "Old" ads for New Age Necessities

Came across these clever ads online for our most popular past times.

Although I wonder what it would be like to live back in the 30's, 40's or 50's, I could only imagine how bored and frustrated I would get at times without our modern day technology. But these ads made me smile just because.. well you'll see why.

Plus they TOTALLY remind me of Fallout! ;-D

I NEED YOUR HELP!

I have a SUUUPER important decision to make! It involves singing. Now I need everyone to think hard and give me some advice. I have some very important people coming to the Tilted Kilt on Tuesday to hear me sing. I must choose 3 songs that will show my range and pitch. So far I only have JUST A GIRL by No Doubt, but I am really panicking! I don't know what other songs to do! Please think real hard and let me know. THIS IS SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT!!

Much love and nervousness!

-Judge Not-

-Before you judge yourself.-

Those were the words of Bob Marley. They are oh so true. I have found it extremely easy to judge people by their exterior, and/or actions and I am sure you have too. While it is still really difficult to take a step aside and think to yourself what the right thing to do is, (which is NOT to judge those around you) I feel like we really should try to do the right thing and look at ourselves before we go making accusations and assumptions about others. Especially, if we never met them before. We don't know what these people have been through. I know it is hard to keep a positive outlook on things when the world is crashing down and others seem to be so cold and heartless towards you. But you just need to continue to PAY IT FORWARD. Kill the mean people with kindness!! It is honestly contagious and you will find that maybe, HOPEFULLY one day they will see all this sunshine you are trying to bring into their lives, despite all the rain clouds and storms they have there already. Maybe, YOU can change their lives!! Think about it! What goes around comes around, and if you continue to treat others they way you wish to be treated, it will come right back to you!

It is also very important to take a look at yourself. WE are not PERFECT beings, we make mistakes everyday! Just remember, that others do have it worse off than you when you are down. It is important to keep your head up and smile through the stormy weather, because despite what it looks like today, Sunshine will always head your way the next day!

(UNLESS YOU'RE IN ALASKA IN THE WINTERTIME... LOL JK)

"Judge not, before you judge yourself
Judge not, If your not ready for judgement
I know that I'm not perfect, and that I don't aim to be
But before you point your fingers, make sure your hands are clean!"

Be happy, Be THANKFUL, Be kindhearted
It will all come back to you in the end somehow, someway!

KEEP YOUR EYES, MINDS, & HEARTS OPEN!

Why do I gotta cry?!?!

Ever since I was a child I have been super sensitive and in touch with my emotions. I guess you could say that I get it from my Dad. He would always tear up during certain parts of movies, and I would always catch him!

Well, I guess it all started when I watched Charlotte's Web for the first time EVER! I must have been about 5 or 6... That movie was SO DAMN SAD! I held up all my emotions.. didn't shed one tear and bit my lip so it couldn't happen. My dad saw that the movie was over and sat next to me and said "HOW DID YOU LIKE THE MOVIE SWEETIE?!?" I looked at him and EXPLODED into tears! Like someone killed me from the inside! My dad started to panic and was like WHATS WRONG?!?! WHAT HAPPENED!?! I was hysterical, and my dad felt so bad that he let me watch that movie. But it wasn't his fault, he didn't know that I was gonna cry! It was about a stupid pig and a black widow!

But ever since that moment, and now that I am older I am even MORE sensitive! Almost any movie will make me cry! I just watched the Curious Case of Benjamin Button and tears are rolling down my cheeks! I hate being so damn emotional! What is it that triggers this? Am I a wuss because of it? I can't get through the ending of Big Fish without choking up. Forrest Gump is another one that gets me every time. Then there's Ghost, Beaches, E.T., and Armageddon. Not to mention ANYTHING that has to do with animals! All Dogs Go To Heaven, Fox and the Hound, Lion King, City Slickers (when the cow is drowning), Bambi, ETC.

Geez I am such a softie and I can't help it! What's wrong with me?!?!

BTW The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a really good movie, If you haven't already go see it! OR JUST WATCH IT AGAIN!

Being A Girl...

As much as being a girl has its privileges, I sometimes cannot help but to complain about how hard it is to be  a woman. Here is a list of the Pros and Cons of being a female.. feel free to let me know your opinions on this!

-PROS-

  • Girls can most of the time get away with things easier or get things for free (Especially if she is good looking)
  • It can be easier for a girl to find a partner than it is for a male to find one (EX. Girls could go out on the town and most likely find a date. Men go to strip clubs and/or have to pay for escorts to have a good night.)
  • Woman have the ability to Multi-task!!!
  • WOMEN HAVE SEXIER BODIES! Its true the anatomy of a woman is BEAUTIFUL!
  • We can get away with crying.
  • Chicks have higher pain tolerance!
-CONS-
  • Periods
  • Cramps
  • Pregnancy
  • CHILD BIRTH
  • Having to be "Primped" at all times! Upkeep with makeup because we don't want to scare the opposite sex away!
  • Getting paid 20% less than men to do the same job!
  • Mood Swings!
  • Menopause
Those are just some things that I could come up with. I am sitting in bed with the worst possible cramps right now hating the fact that I am a woman this very instant. Although I will feel better tomorrow, It just sucks that women have to go through bullshit for the rest of their lives!

Fallout: New Vegas!!!

I waited SO long for this game! It finally came out on October 19th, 2010. YES, I did go to game stop at 11:30pm to wait for the midnight release!

I got home and was super excited to play. I installed it on my computer and loaded it up. The graphics are so pretty! However, the Lag was horrible. As soon as I got out of the first town and got into the Violent Gameplay, I kept dying! Not because I suck at video games, but because of the lagging! I would be getting shot at and could not see the person shooting at me until he was up close and personal! I was getting really annoyed. Also whenever I shot at something the aim was way off, and it took a second to shoot after I clicked the mouse! I turned it off and was really disappointed. The next day I tried installing it on my boyfriends computer because I thought mine sucked. It is still a tad bit laggy, but not nearly as much. I am enjoying the game now and glad I can play it. I have not beat it yet, but the story line so far is pretty neat. There is something weird about that robot Victor. I keep running into him and he doesn't give me an answer to why he is "Following me".

On the recent trip to Vegas I took, we passed by the town of Primm. I love how the Fallout games take real towns and transform them into post apocalyptic war zones! As I was passing through Primm I saw the Roller Coaster and Buffalo Bills which is Hotel Bison Steve! LOL! Also when driving past, I imagined where they placed the NCR troops across from the town. Crazy stuff man!

The Real Primm "Buffalo Bills"
Fallout Primm "Bison Steve"

A couple new things about this Fallout that wasn't in Fallout 3!
  • Hardcore Mode: Which is to make the game seem more realistic. You can get dehydration without drinking water often, and there is no instantaneous healing. Such as Stimpaks or Sleeping. Ammo has weight, and fast travel is turned off.
  • Multiple Companions: You can have one human and one non human companion at the same time! Right now I have Rex and Boone. They both come with a Companion Wheel. Which means you can control how far or close they follow you, make them passive or aggressive, trade items, and give them stimpaks.
  • New Weapons
  • Weapon Modding: Adding scopes or extended magazines
  • Gambling: Roulette, Blackjack, and a game called Caravan that you will have to learn throughout the game
  • Food and Drink: Only heals for a few seconds.
  • Books & Magazines: Certain books will boost a skill permanently, but magazines will boost a skill for only a limited amount of time.

I am still learning this game and am really enjoying it. You should for sure get your hands on a copy and tell me how you like it!

Just remember it may LAG! :-(
